Ground Handling

  Ground handling is carry out in accordance with the international standards and include the following activities:

  • “Follow me” service;
  • Supply of passenger stairs;
  • Cargo and baggage handling;
  • Cargo loading and unloading;
  • Cleaning of the water system in WCs;
  • The Airport provides transportation , hotel reservation in hotels in Gorna Oryahovitsa and Veliko Turnovo.
  • Airport charges

      The Government of The Republic of Bulgaria, via the “Civil Aviation Act” (published in the State Gazette No.85, 1998) and “Regulation concerning the fees for use of public airports and air navigation services in Republic of Bulgaria” (enacted via decree No.280 of the Council of Ministers on December 23th, 1998 and published in the State Gazette No.2, 1999) approved government fees for services provided for aircraft. The following tariff regulations came into force on 1 January 1999.

    In cases where an aircraft has a flexible take-off weight (MTOW), the weight factor will be determined on the basis of the highest certified MTOW, for which the aircraft is certified in its state of registration.

    At airports which are for public use, the following charges are due:
      – Landing charge
      – Parking charge
      – Passenger handling charge

    • Landing Charges (as per Article 11, Clause 1)

    •   – The landing charge includes the stay of the aircraft, transporting passengers or post for up to 3 hours, and the stay of the cargo aircraft for up to 6 hours.
        – In cases when an aircraft lands on a Saturday, Sunday or official holiday, the landing charge is increased by 25 percent.
        – In cases when an aircraft lands between 22.00 and 06.00, the landing charge is increased by 25 percent.

      Landing charges are calculated on the basis of the aircraft's MTOW, as each part of ton weight is rounded up to a whole ton.

  • Parking Charges (as per Article 13, Clause 2 & 3)
  • The parking charge rate beyond the free stay (as per Article 10, Clause 4, par. 11) is equal to 20 percent of the landing charge for any time period equal to 24 hours or a part of it.
  • In cases where is performed an international flight followed by a domestic flight, the parking charge will be equal to the international flight charge.
  • In cases where is performed a domestic flight followed by an international flight, the parking charge will be equal to the domestic flight charge.
  • The airport standing charge rate for airports serving as bases for a specific carrier (permanent or seasonal) for one day (24 hrs) is equal to 5 percent of the landing charge for domestic flights for any time interval equal to 24 hours or a part of it.
  • Passenger handling charge (as per Article 16, Clause 2)

  The passenger-handling charge rate payable by the carrier is equal to:

  • 8 EUR per passenger departing on international flights.
  • 1.5 EUR per passenger departing on domestic flights.
  • Children from 2 to 12 years old are charged at 50 percent of the adult charge, mentioned above.
